Default Tekin FXR BEC

Is the Tekin FXR no good for general scale use?
I have heard alot of stories of people using BEC witht he FXR.
I will be using a Traxxas waterproof servo and don't really want or see the need to run a BEC for this. I am not competing, just having fun.

Would I be better off getting a Novak Rooster Crawler instead?

I run a 2.2comp with a FXR and have no external BEC. I only have problems when I plug in a 3c battery. No problem running up to 9.6v with it.

If you are going to run a 3S lipo battery 11.1v, then a BEC is really needed with the Fx-R. I run the Tekin on my 2.2 comp rig, scaler, and had them on supers too.

The FXR will work just fine. If you do end up using a 11.1v battery, then you need the BEC. Otherwise you will be fine without one.

Thanks guys.
I will only be using 2S lipos so I'll go without the BEC.
Cheers!

You will be fine. The FXR really only needs the BEC on 3s in comp crawlers running higher powered steering servos. In a scaler 99.9% of the time it will not be an issue. I have been running mine for over a year on 3s in my SCX with zero issues if that tells you anything.

While I'm sure it will probably be ok on 2s with that wimpy servo, but why not spend the $20 and be sure to not let the smoke out? After all ya may want a winch and/or lights one day.
