Default how to run 12v on lathe motor???

i just got into rc crawling, and i have a question. i have a clod thats almost finished and have integy lathe motors on the way with super roaster. from what i have seen in this site, lathe motors run better on 12v. so how do i get 12v out of the super roaster??? my local hobby shop said to run 2 6cell betteries to get 14.4v and i need a resistor(?) to bring it down to 12v. is this how everyone thats running 12v have their setup?? or is there a easier way to get 12v out of the super roaster?? can someone please help?!!?!?!??

Just run two batteries, dont do a resistor, it'll fry it out in short order. 14.4V and lathe motors wont hurt anything.

As to *do it* you can run a Y splitter.. Let me find one so you can see what I mean
