Default Lipo longevity?

I was wondering on the life span of a lipo battery was and what are the signs of one on its way out? Thanks Scott.

I have some flightmax 3 cell lipo's that are about 2 1/2 years old. Still hold a good charge. I use a Accucel 6 charger/balancer. When your run time's start to get shorter the pack is starting to lose it's punch.

long slow balace charges will keep them going for years.
keeping the cells balanced is top priority,as soon as they fall outa balance and you can't get them back with spec the battery is usless

I have several Zippy packs that are still going strong after 3yrs/100+cycles. The bigest indicators that your packs are getting old are:
1. Increased internal resistance
2. Takes longer than normal to balance
3. Come off your rig with one cell significantly higher/lower than the others.
4. Will no longer hold up to high draw situations.

Default I second that

Just like everyone else has said, I have also had packs last for quite some time. A few other hints for long life. Don't charge faster than you need to. If you don't need the pack charged in an hour then charge it slower. Even though these packs can do a 1C charge easy it does not hurt to charge slower if you can. Also even with a voltage cutoff you can extend the life of the pack if you don't run it until it is dead, even saving a little bit left in it will have an impact on the long life of the pack. Third is pretty obvious but make sure the pack is somewhere on the vehicle where it will not be physically abused. I have seen people that put it to far forward on the front axle and smash it into rocks and such. This is a high risk or causing an internal short in the pack which will end the fun pretty quickly.
