Default Castle Sidewinder / BEC Problems (??)

All,
Installing new Sidewinder, BEC, and DX3E with a 3S Lipo -

The system binds in what appears to be normal/good, throttle calibration works as instructions say, sidewinder programmed thru USB link (only change was for 'brushed with reverse').

When everything is powered up the forward throttle causes the servo to steer left. I have tried 2 different receivers, same condition in both. I have tried the aux channel for steering, same steer-to-left exhibited.

Anyone have any ideas on what this could be?

I am using this for BEC wiring:

Setting ESC to defaults eliminates the problem. Of course default includes brushless motor so that is not a fix.....

I tried both 1.21 and beta 1.24 software for the ESC with equal results.

I don't think the ex3e has any mixing that could be turned on? I would try running the bec (or just the esc red wire) through the receiver and plugging the servo in normally. I would guess some kind of feedback through the power/signal wires?

Regular wired servo (seperate, new) works norm but i can see a very small twitch in the steering periodically with disconnected signal wire to servo in chassis, servo still powered by BEC in the chassis.

Unplugged signal wire from receiver removes problem (still powered through BEC).

Unplugged motor and different motor is no different, still have steer problem.

Almost like a bad ground in the ESC or BEC but I have checked all the connections.... And it is ONLY left steer in forward throttle, no right steer in reverse.

I have a BR-XL ESC on the way, will use that unless Castle can help me out.

most people remove the red wire from the esc so just the black and signal wire are used on the reciever.

then, plug the bec into the "batt" port on the reciever.

I am stumped on this one. That is some weird behavior. What voltage is the BEC set?

Thanks for the suggestions, out of town at the moment so can't keep troubleshooting....

Remove red wire from ESC to 'batt port' (??) - not in front of the receiver but i remember str, thr, aux, and bind - which one....?

BEC is set at 'stock' - have not actually plugged it in to the USB link. Now that I say that I think that might be a good idea as well.

Thanks again!

plug the esc into the reciever like normal but remove the red wire from the esc plug.

use the batt or aux port on the reciever for the bec plug

That will not work using the BEC config from the above diagram. It sounds like you have an alternate way of wiring ESC and BEC. Is there another way that allows for 11.1V to the motor and 6V to the servo....?

Tomorrow I will try to call CC. They have not answered the tech support email alias. My patience with this config is about gone and my BR-XL should be here any day. It was for another project but it sounds to good to be true (eliminating external BEC).

The way he said will power the Motor with the ESC at 11.1v and the BEC will power the receiver and servo at 6v

The way rcracer is correct, see the diagram that comes with the CCBEC (below).

The way you have it wired in your diagram the receiver is getting 2 power sources which will cause the conflicts.

I see the receiver as getting a single power source (from the ESC, thru throttle channel), what am I missing?

Also servo connection is missing from that diagram - I was hoping to leave my third channel open, sounds like it might not be possible with this BEC/ESC.... I am going to look at the diagram that came with the BEC right now.

Have not had a chance to troubleshoot more today, damn work....

A few things I have been thinking about:
* other people are using the above diagram/layout with no probs
* my problem is very specific - only rt turn with forward throttle - no variance like you would expect from a noise or interference
* does not have the problem on the default/brushless setting (but motor does not operate properly

Just wondering if there could be something wrong with the programming in the ESC.....

also how do you have the BEC wired in to your system....i have mine soldered to 2 deans plugs male/female soldered together with red/black wire from BEC soldered in between....that way i can just unplug my BEC to remove it from my rig..........bob

OK, I will try it this way - on the DX3E there is Bind, STR, THR, Aux - ESC goes to throttle, BEC goes to STR, where does the servo go?

Power and ground are soldered to ESC side of Deans plug (coming from battery), signal wire from BEC clipped.
