Default spektrum Dx3R 3pos aux is slow

I am running a DNA dig and a spektrum DX3r. I just switched it to a 3 position switch from 2 so I can get freewheel. Anyway I have the switch set on one of the thumb switches. When I pull back and hold the switch to go from 4 to lock the delay at freewheel seams to take a long time which worries me as I am wondering what will happen on a tough climb. I am aware that this could a servo issue but it actually appears more to be a radio issue. Any ideas on how to speed this up some? Would a different switch make the difference or is there a setting that would make a difference? Thanks in advance.

It actually sounds to me like either the servo or the link is too tight and is binding. It should fly very easy and not be an issue. I used a 645 and it is slow, but if you go to a better servo you can feel the differance. what is your BEC set too?

Default My BEC is set to 6 volts

The BEC is set at 6 but I have been thinking about knocking it up a notch lately. My servo is a cheapo. I think it was a $30 job. What are you using now?

i use the hitec 225 that came with my DNA dig unit....i have no issue's with it being slow, make sure you have no binding issue's in the link....i use the bottom 2P switch to go from 4x4 to free wheel with the next switch up that is a 3P switch to go from 4x4 to free wheel to rear lock....when i'm in rear lock i use the 2P switch to go back to 4x4....you don't even know i'm using the switches when i'm going to and from 4x4..........bob

I use a a Towerpro 995MG, I think they are better in torque and speed than the Hitec 645's. 6.0V should be plenty to move that dig. But dont use anything cheaper than a 645 if that. I can tell ya I never stripped a 645 for a DIG servo, but for steering you will need something with balls.

Default Thanks guys

I am running a pretty pissed off steering servo but my dig is probably the 645. I have burned up one but I am not going to admit how. One thing I will add is that the delays do not appear to be while the servo is actually engaging it appears to be delays between its throws. I do think I could use a rebuild of the dig though to make sure it is not binding.

Disconnect the dig linkage and check again.

I wanted to update the status on this as I am getting closer to where I want to be but not there yet. I made a jump to a vp dig recently and I am still working out my kinks. I now have my dig setup so that my failsafe position is the freehweel position. I have my my 3 pos aug channel set on button F (I think its the thumb button). All three positions are working flawlessly but still a little slow from full 4 to dig. I have my top thumb button set to 2 pos. When I use the 2-pos it only gets half the travel going in and out. I am thinking now what I might do is set the very top aux button as linear rather than 2 pos and see if that gets me the straight from 4 wheel to lock I am looking for. What say you all??

If you would just invest in a better servo, you might be surprised on the way it reacts.

Your probably right. I'm using a mini now. What servo do you suggest, assuming I'm sticking with a mini?

I've noticed the same thing with my DX3R moving the servo in linear mode vs 2/3 position. Moving the servo position in linear mode it is very slow, but in 2/3 position mode the servo snaps from one position to another...
