Question HH motrors?

I bought 2 hh pro handwounds. My question is i was reading the paper they came with and its saying to get max performance to move the timing? Do i really have to do that??Or could i just run them at 0 timing? Thanks.

You can leave them where they are. From what I have been told advancing them will shorten the life of them some but will give you more performance. I would run them how they are and see how you like them. If you want more then you know what to do Johns motors are just sick anyways!

From what I understand, advancing the timing will give you more power going forward but will wear the brushes more in reverse. Good for a vehicle that barely ever reverses like in racing but not worth it for crawlers.

If you can adjust the timing when the motor is in the car, try to listen to when it's just barely faster in forward than in reverse. That's a good spot.

If your using reverse in a crawler you're doing it wrong

Zero degrees will actually arc more.....thus shortening the life of the comm. 6 degrees or so is a good start and will last longer than a zero timed motor, while giving you some extra power.....I don't see why people are so hung up on having the same amount of power in reverse...A. do you really need that extra ounce of power and B. isn't using reverse bad?

I say put them at 6 and enjoy.

Should be a little Zero on the can...and some little marks on the side of the endbell....each mark is 12 degrees after the first....so middle of the first two...can should rotate counter clockwise, but not sure which motor you have exactly.
