Exclamation Team Associated XP3-SS 3rd Channel Mod help!!!!

I just received a XP3-SS from Associated. I would like to use it with a crawler and use the 3rd channel to control a winch. So I would need a 3 position switch instead of the push switch it has. I would like to know if the mod can be done and if anyone knows how to...

I don't have and XP3, so I can't help with an internal mod at this time. However, I am looking into building a generic 2-position to 3-position adapter here which would be just for situations like yours:

Can anyone comment on this controller? I have the opportunity to buy the XP3-SS locally for $40. Some input would be nice. I was planning to grab the Spektrum DX3E in a few months, my LHS sells it for about $115 CDN. Some input would be nice, thanks.

FYI, I'm not planning on a dig at the moment, and my stock axial controller cuts out frequently.

Get the spectrum if you can afford it and can wait. the associated is a very very basic radio, I use it for my sons crawler, but I can't recommend it unless you want basically a 2 channel basic radio (the 3rd channel is useless).
