Default Water Break In

Just wondering how long I should leave a motor running at quarter throttle in water to break it in. YouTube vid said a couple of packs. Does anyone break in their handwounds? I'm about to order up a 45T...

Depending on where you pick it up, the motor may be broken in already. I break in all of mine.

10 minutes of break in is fine. Water doesn't actually help, except to remove the dust.

Default Hand wound or Brushless?

Good to know! I was just thinking about HH 45T hand wounds! I am at a toss up between a good hand wound brushed versus a sensored 21.5T brushless motor.

Which motor will last longer and perform better?

I will be using a Sidewinder on 3S.

The brushless motor will have a much longer service life. Performance is really a personal preference. Both will have great power and feel to them. Since you are using the sensorless Sidewinder, the brushed motor will have worlds better low speed control.

Water will actually seat most brushes quicker, but its pointless now since you can cut the comm.

A quick squirt of motor spray at the halfway point and with 30 seconds to go helps....

Most companies that sell handwounds pre-break them in.....I know John does, as do I and Fantom....

Ahhh thanks for clearing that up. Didn't know the Sidewinder was sensorless. Looks like I'll be staying with a brushed system!
