I've a 3PM-X system and would like to buy a couple more receivers. The recommended R603FF costs $90, whereas the (smaller and lighter)R6004FF is only $50. Will it work and if not, why not?

It will not work with the 4pk (or any surface radio). Air and ground systems are different. Now if ya went to the 6ex stick radio it would work.
