Default Puffed Lipo?

Last week on a trail run with a scaler I may have puffed a Maxamps 1550mah 3s pack using an XL5. I ran the fully charged pack about 20 minutes on a 35T motor...I figured I could run it about an hour but I did run the truck fully submersed a few times.

When back on land I drove it and noticed a lack of power so when I took the body off I felt that the pack had puffed out a little comparing it to another identical pack.

When I hooked it to my charger the voltage was at 10.3V so I charged it back up. A few days later the puff on the pack reduced a bit in size. Is this pack still safe to use?

Maxamps claims their lipos to be waterproof so I don't think water got into the battery.

If it is still under warranty, send it back to them.

If not, just toss the thing because a new lipo is cheaper than a new house.

how puff is it? I'd had the same happen to me, I just stop using them and discarted them on my LHS just to be on the safe side.

A. I don't want a burnt RC.
B. I don't want a burnt house.

Anyone have a pic of a puffed lipo?

I think all my lipos are puffed a little.

How much is too much?

All these have been balanced charged every time. They have all been used with a lipo cut-off. They all have some puff to them and they all seem to work fine. They are all Turnigy 1300 30c 4 cell packs that I run on a Losi moa.

Am I living ignorantly dangerous here?

Lol the one of the far left is exactly how puffed my lipo is! Also its been about 9 months so I am still under the 3 year 300 charges warranty.

It is puffed maybe 5-10%...I guess I will send it into Maxamps to be on the safe side.

Puffy is one thing, squishy is another. I know, I am introducign another very techincal term. Until you see one compeltely go bad, it kind of makes you nervous when they puff a bit. When they go bad, it looks like the battery is 9 months pregnant and busting at the seams. I think a little puff is no big deal, but squishy is bad.

Garbage can, unless you are in the UK and then it would be a refuse bin. Seriously though, probably not the most environmentally friendly thing to do, but whatever.
