Default RC4WD XR4 Help

Well I had gotten the XR4 radio system a few days ago and today I had what I thought would be a great idea. It turns out that wasn't the case. The XR4 is powered by 4 batteries, although there's room for 8. I had the bright idea that I would make the radio be powered by 8 batteries. So after a little while, the radio stopped working, only the backlight on the display worked. So I took the radio apart to see if anything might have shorted out. I even switched back to the normal 4 battery config. Nothing, but when the radio is on for a few seconds, there are 3 chips that get burning hot (circled below). I'm pretty sure that i just trashed it, but any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Why would you try to run it off of 8 batteries when all that's needed it 4?

I would have worked if you would have wired 4 batteries in series and 4 in parallel. You would have doubled the run time. However you didn't and you just pissed away money instead

Yeah . I didn't think of that, but stuff happens sometimes. Next time I won't try to modify things.

Nah, keep on modifying things. Just either make sure you understand what you are doing or do it to something cheap that you can throw away if if don't work out.

Somewhere in your radio you let that magic puff of smoke out... Yup, you should have wired the other 4 batteries in parallel instead of series.

Live, learn, buy new junk...
