Default Novak Motor Problems???

I am going to call in the a.m. but I wanted to see if anybody else has had this problem. Hopefully its an easy fix.

There are 3 different cars. All have the MMP, 3s. One Axial, 2 Losi comp crawlers.

The problem that we are having is that the MMP completely shuts down (electricity gone) at random. Steering/dig still stay on since it uses the BEC. Red wire is clipped on the MMP. At first we would just pull the deans on the lipo and turn it back on and it would work. As time goes on this may or may not work for us.

We finally found out that the MMP will turn back on if we pull the sensor wire or if we turn the drivetrain by hand causing the rotor to move positions. We have tried all the different motors in all the different cars with the same result. We have one 18.5 that does NOT have this problem and will run all day in all the cars. This is why we think its a Novak issue.

Motor, ESC, Battery all get Very warm when just plugged in. In fact, I am pretty sure it ruined 4 of lipos before I figured this out.

Tried updating software and firmware on the MMP, even tried older versions with no luck.

Tried multiple sensor wires.

Motors that are having the problem:
21.5t Ballistic with 14mm rotor
21.5t Ballistic with 14mm rotor
13.5t SS pro with 12.3mm rotor (brand new)
18.5t Ballistic with 12.3mm rotor
21.5t Ballistic with 12.3mm rotor

Most of these motors are under a month old.

Are you using the same sensor wire?

Try putting the MMpro into sensorless mode and see if the heating occurs just sitting there. Are you swapping the same ESC around for all the rigs?

I am not sure about the heating. When in sensorless mode it obviously runs like crap and will just stop randomly and not go for a couple of seconds. When doing this mode we have pulled the sensor wire out of the MMP. It will not shut it down like it does in a normal situation. I am not sure how its supposed to act in sensorless mode with the wire pulled. Maybe its normal?

Not the same ESC. Different ones in each car.

Do you have any other motors to try? That is strange that all four setups exhibit the same behavior. Maybe call Castle and see what they say?

Thats what we are thinking. At first we even blamed the MMP because we didnt know a motor could do that. So we have tried 5 different MMP's with the same result also.

BTW, two of the Novaks serial numbers are one off from each other so we think it may have been a bad batch. The others may have been made at the same time too but their serial numbers change with the different turns.

Its also too weird that my one 18.5t Ballistic runs like a champ in all cars.
