Default 1/4 Scale Servo

Why doesn't anyone run a 1/4 scale servo on a 1/10th scale crawler? Is it just the size?

Because there are smaller servos that put out more power. And they are way to big for a 2.2 crawler.

I have a pair of 1/4 sized servos on my TXT-1 and those things are huge.

they are very large and for there are standard size servos that make more torque. in a small scale crawler a regular size servo is plenty. were the large scale servos shine is the larger gear train makes them a lot stronger.
