Default ESC Troubles

Ok, I'll start of saying that this ESC is not on a crawler. It is on my SC10. Now, on to the problem. My Esc is an XL-10. It's pretty much new. The thing is if i just punch it , even with a full battery pack, it just shuts off. I have a 27 turn motor with capacitors on it. The only thing i did that was close to a mod was solder on a tamiya connector (I know, i should have done a deans). The ESC will go up to full throttle - i have to slowly ramp up. Please help me guys i just want to race some more.

the only thing i can think of is try to reset it. it says on line that it has a 10 turn limit so it should take your 27 no problem. try calling traxxas.
