| Internal BEC Question
Ok I just got a Havok Brushless system (I won it at our LHS) it is a 17.5 turn and I am going to use it on my comp rig. The question that I have is, it is supposed to have an internal BEC, but is that just to protect the ESC itself? Also I am getting some chatter out of my servo that is more annoying than troublesome, I am wondering if I get an external BEC and run the servo through it if that will fix it. Any help would be great thanks. |

Almost all ESCs have a built in BEC. The problem with using them in conjunction with a high torque servo on a crawler is that when you get your motor in a bind, the motor will draw current away from the BEC....leaving your servo without enough juice. An external BEC simply bypasses the ESC....

Cool thanks for clarifying! Do you think that running an external BEC will stop the chattering that I am getting from the servo?

It is like the electric sound you get when the forward or reverse trim on the motor is set a little to high and it is trying to engage but just hasn't yet, if that makes any sense. If I move the wheel or tap the throttle it will stop but then if I hit the wheel again it will start again.

Ahh....I see. That is just the digital servo trying to center itself. When you pick the truck up off the ground, it goes away, right? If not, you might have a bit of binding in your steering system... Is this a Hitec servo? For reference, Futaba servos are a bit quieter.... |
