well I'd be using it for winch and either for a summit tranny or the dig tranny from rc4wd, but the question is why is it so cheap? $25 for one, and $32 for the other? thats cheap for most controller, especially for the multi channel. so there has to be a catch? what flaws do they have?

I don't believe their are any flaws with it, most of the stuff on their site is cheap. My batteries and charger are still goinng strong after 6 months.
