Exclamation Best motor for summit trans scx10

Hi all
My set up is scx10, summit trans, 2s lipo, novak rooster +55t.
The problem is - less of torque on second gear. My heavy Land Rover needs more powerful motor

Now I'm waiting for my new NOVAK Goat 3s ESC and 3s lipo's.. Will 3s lipo solve this problem?
If not, what is the best motor compatible with goat 3s?

My ideas are:
http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...idproduct=6526
460W brushless from hobbyking. BUT! WILL IT WORK WITH GOAT 3S?!

OR

Is it really powerful in comparison with novak?

I need your HELP!

The novak brushless units only work with sensored motors, the hobbyking motor is not sensored.

A nice handwound will be worlds above your novak brushed motor. It will certainly give you more torque in second gear.

Since I'm also facing this problem. What wind would you recommend John ?

Granted I have R1 axles. I like to get sensored brushless. I'm thinking 17.5-21.5t on 4s Or is motor getting warm and puffy lipos ?

OK!
45 or 55 handwound? does the 55 have more torque? Or is it the same torque but just different rpm's?

I hope your handwounds are really more powerful, never tried them

I'm going to use em with goat 3s + 3s batt

The faster motors will produce more torque, so I would recommend a 35t on 3s.

For a sensored system the 21.5 on 4s is very nice. Puffy lipos depends on the lipo you choose. If you want fast, get a pack big enough for a fast vehicle.

I just set up my SCX10 with the Summit tranny and a Goat 3S. Wired it and took it out to run it just to see how it runs. Plenty of low end in 1st gear and pretty quick in 2nd.

The Goat 3S requires a BEC with 3S and that makes a lot of wiring with the 2 speed so now I have to work out a way to organize that.

Gonna switch to 2.2 TSLs now.

What turn motor ?

You should watch your lipo to see if it gets puffy after a runs.

I ran into that problem, I was running 19t motor with with 1300mah 3s 25c lipo after one run it was puffed.

I saw someone else with summit trans scx with 13.5t tekin system and he said his lipo is puffed also.

How are you going to waterproof your novak motor? They don't like water
It's the only why i don't like sensored motors(

It depends on the level of water you are talking about. if you are hitting puddles and some mud, I have never had an issue with my sensored nokavs, but you are correct in that they will not be happy submerged for any lenght of time, so I will avoid it.

As far as the tunrs, it is an 18.5. I have been running a 19.5 novak havok since I got the truck with the stock tranny and on 2S and have run it hard for long periods of time with no issues. At the same time, I am used to puffy LiPos and as much as it sucks, it seems to be the price you pay to run brushless. I just puffed 2 5S 5000s in my Te.
