Question motor cogs when steering turned

I have an AX10 with stock electronics.

last time out it worked fine for a couple of hours, then started shuddering and losing throttle control.
I have realized that the further the steering is turned, the less throttle control I have over the motor. At full lock on the turning the truck will jump and shudder or often not even move.

If the truck is on a stand with the tires off the ground it works fine.

I have had a lot of wiring problems with this truck (got it used) and have replaced the plugs on the servo and motor. ESC plug is not in the greatest condition either, but haven't replaced it yet.

Motor seems fine if it is the only thing plugged into the Rx, and same with the servo, they just don't seem to want to work together.

I have seen servos cause bad glitching before try a different servo.

Thanks. put the servo from my slash in it and it seems to work fine. Guess the servo was on it's last legs.

Installing a BEC like the Castle BEC may take care of your problem. As you bind the steering while crawling it takes a load out on your internal ESC BEC. Adding a BEC will most likely take care of it.

you got it, I had this same issue, installed a BEC and its as smooth as butter, I couldn't drive and steer at the same time, it was bad.

glad you were able to try another servo and get it going, i'd look into the BEC thing though, something every crawler needs eventualy. they are cheap, so I dont see why not, I got one for $15 shipped used, but they are $20 new, i've gotten them new for less on ePay.

I will get the BEC eventually, but since it was working fine before I'm going to asume the servo motor is dying and drawing too many amps.

The traxxas servo works, but it isn't giving as much steering and I'm not sure if it has the torque for the job. Guess I need a cheap servo to keep it running until I can afford a good one.

If you find that a decent servo doesn't have the torque that it should, this could also be contributed to the lack of a BEC. with a BEC you can change the voltage to get the full 6v to the servo.

Just save your change and get a BEC and Servo.
