Reading some of the hitec specs today they have a fail safe that shuts stuff off if it gets hot i think. I'm having a similar problem myself. Do you loose throttle also.

I don't think I lose throttle.. I think servo is the only thing affected

I just rebuilt everything tonight and my front end was really snug so I rebuilt everything assuming servo heat is shutting down because of heat and thus shutting down my whole system. Anyway I drilled a hole in my servo plate to get airflow. I also checked my bec and it was already at 6. I am going to run it tomorrow for a bit and see if I can heat it up good and cause it fo fail again. We shall see.

I found a bind up in my steering due to a slight bend in the bta arm/slide lever. Replaced with a delrin one piece and will test again.. It is this or send it back

Talked to both castle and Hitec today. Here is what we might be hearing. 1. castle said the speed controller is loosing signal and that the external bec might be bad or that the servo is pressing the system. Check both. 2. Hitec asked what radio quickly into discussion and immediately said it sounds like a brown out. I recently added a faster larger dig servo that might be drawing to much through the rx and thus browning out the system. I switched servos for a reason that the wantasummit system fixed as it is. I am going to go back to a 225 and see if this puts less strain on my system. Hope this might help you all some. |

A 7980 can and will pull more amps then a castle bec can handle. Iirc it will pull about 12 amps. The castle bec is rated at 5 amps continuous and 10 amps peak.

Ok. I replaced the digetal dig servo I had and put in a 225. I am still running the same BEC though. I did not have problems with this setup before so I want back the one that brung me. Hope this works!. I have also really worked to free up any binding in my steering to see if that helps.
