Default 7T Cobalt motor

Thinking of trying these motors in my 2.2 comp rigs:

COBALT MOTOR PROMAX 15 07
Very powerful Cobalt DC motor. It is an 05 class motor. Comparable in power to a 25-30 class glow engine.
This motor is an OEM item, and is new, without retail box. The motor comes with a Deans connector installed. The output shaft has also been OEM modified with a flat machined the length of the exposed shaft. This will aid greatly in securing hub set screws to the shaft.Peak watts with 12 cells @ 35amps is 504 watts!

SPECIFICATIONS PROMAX 1507

Winding 7
Wire Gauge 20
Length, in 2.55
Diameter, in 1.32
Weight, oz 6.5
Shaft Dia., in 5/32
Max # of cells 12
Max Current 35
Typical # of cells 7-10
Test prop . 7x6
Test Voltage 8.5
Static RPM 12,500
Static Amps 27.5
Static power, Watts 234
Static thrust, ozs 32
Motor Constants KV (rpm/volt) 1834
Rm, Ohm .049
Io, neutral no load current 3.0

In what truck?

I run a similar motor in my Ax10 based rock racer and it is a LOT of fun! Plenty of torque and wheelspeed. These motors are parts breakers!

You might want to verify that the motor will fit in the FF4.....IIRC, those motors are around 2.5" in length (from mounting surface to endbell)...

Probably, depending on your set-up.

You need to compare the published specs for the length and diameter of the motor to the space available in your vehicle.

And standard pinions use a 1/8" or 4.92 mm bore, correct?

I wondered how long it would take you to chime in. LOL!

it will fit an scx10..one thing you should consider when putting one of these open endbell mtrs in a trailrig is you dont really want to get it too dirty/muddy it really tears them apart..killer motor in a lighter crawler
as for the shaft size you will have to bore out a standard pinion or find a supplier of 4mm bore pinions that are the correct pitch
i have a holmes 7 and a 10..both killer motors

Decided to buy a couple to play with......

Will likely have the exposed part of the armature shaft turned down to 1/8" so I can use standard pinions.

I'm sure going to pick one up at that price. Run it when I know I'm not going to get wet.

When I was looking at similar motors in the past (Astroflight pullers), I did not find any. I did think of trying to use something like tin foil around the 4mm shaft and then putting a 5mm ID pinion on there....but never actually tried this.
