I looked into doing it but decided to just get some good rechargeables instead. I was doing some research and got 8 Eneloop batteries and a nice little charger for like $30.

I'd go LiFe if I knew that the radio could handle the voltage. Has anyone tried an unregulated LiFe battery in theirs?

I just picked up a DX3R with 3 SR3100 receivers for $75 for my trail rig so I don't have to take my 4PKS out into the woods and through stream and stuff.

I would probably just regulate it down if you were going to do it...No reason to fry the radio.

I've done it on my nomadio, was very easy, fitted a bec to control volts then used a 2s lipo, I just need to watch voltage but on the dx3r you can set you voltage alarm to warn you to charge

a little easier.....i use a traxxas style rx pack in mine.....5 cell nimh flat pack.....not as evil to the radio on voltage and lasts pretty long.....just pull the 4 cell box out....ad the end from a servo extension to the wireing of the 3r....you can even charge the pack through the charge port

I think a 2 cell Life pack would be just about perfect. 6.6V and sized right.

I read another Forum and Casey Peck from Losi/Spektrum/Horizon said he has been running a Lipo in his with no issue for a little over a year. I will be going with a Life pack once I add the receiver plug to it.

Thanks guys.
