Default Mamba Micro Pro vs Sidewinder Micro

i currently run dual micro pros in my BJv3 XR-10 and absolutely have no problems with the micros .... in fact the little buggers work so good you forget they were micros ....

got me a berg project on the way and was thinking of getting another set of dual esc's and saw that the sidewinder micro is $20 less than than the micro pro's ....

ive been comparing their specs at castles website and they seem to be identical except that the micro pro has a hardcase and cooling fins on ...

micro pro

sidewinder micro

has anyone tried running the sidewinder micros on lets say 35T's on 3s?

just wanted to know of the differences between the 2???

thanks

I was wondering the same thing. The differance in the spec's " sport use only" makes me think the micro sidewinder is somehow diffrent.

I don't know...I didn't even look before posting this, but I'm wondering if the Sidewinder has the option for the Crawler drag brake? I guess I'll have to check later...

I would chase down the AMPERAGE that the ESCs in question can handle. I believe that the MAMBA MICRO PRO is a 35amp ESC (continuous), while the SIDEWINDER MICRO is a 30amp ESC, and the MICRO 25 was a 25amp ESC. I run a MICRO 25 in my scaler with an outrunner and 3 cell lipo...and a BEC, and it works. The motor is supposed to pull 22amps....so I am safe with this setup. I am looking at switching to DUAL Mamba Micro Pros in my Bully with 45T handwounds....and I know that they will handle that setup.

The sidewinder micro is just not as capable, when it boils down to it. The greater thermal mass and sink area of the MMicro Pro just makes it better situated for most crawling IMO. When you get into a bind with a brushed motor especially, the uncased version really heats up..

Can you believe the first brushless crawler setup I used was equivalent to the Mamba 25 and the Revolver in a Super class rig? It ran hot, but it sure had stink to it! While I don't recommend the smaller systems for 540 sized motors, they do work.

Capable in power and amps.

1.9 scaler. If you are using an ax10 base I would get a Revolver motor. Startup would be about as good as you could get sensorless, you would have plenty of torque, and on 3s the wheelspeed would be peppy enough.

thanks , it's a scx10 chassis, custom steel bumpers, sliders, Motor to 2 reduction units and a rc4wd Disrupter 2.18:1 transfer case, axial axles total output 35:1 and lots of interior detail, So a mamba micro would be ok ?
or sidewinder
thanks for your advise

I always recommend the MMicro Pro, but just because it is more robust and will last longer in the same installation situation. The sidewinder micro should work just fine though.

Sweet! They actually had them on sale for 60 bucks a few months back and I got a pair then, along with 2 hyperion packs. Total bill was under 150 bucks, including a $5.00 credit for my first order and free shipping! They really are a good company to deal with.

These speedo's are really sweet, The low speed control and drag brake is phenomenal! I've been happy with my Mamba Micro Pro's for a while now! Running dual MMP's on 3s 35T motors
