Question 8711 on 2s

Has anyone done it? How was it and how is the servo now? This would be for a 1.9 truck.

Also if anyone knows the maximum voltage input for this servo please post it up.

I see the site says :

Torque: 347 oz-in @ 4.8V, 403 oz-in @ 6V
Speed: .19 sec/60° @ 4.8V, .15 sec/60° @ 6V

but what about a max or is the 6.0 the assumed max?

you can bump the standard 8711 voltage up a bit but not into the 7v range safely. i wouldnt suggest no more than around 6.5v. thats why there is the 8711HV which is meant for 6v-7.4v

Just set a crawler up for someone yesterday and wanted to know, so I called a JR team guy, he told me not to go more than 6.0 so that's what I did.

I ran a non-HV 8711 on straight 2S in my mini for most of year with no problems. The servo never even ran warm.

I don't know if it would cause any long term problems since the servo isn't rated for that much voltage though.

When I first purchased a 8711 sereval years ago, I set the BEC to 7.0 volts. The servo did not like it, it twitched and did all kinds of crazy shit before I found out that it shouldn't be ran on more than 6.0 volts.

I assume you never had problems because that straight 2s isn't always 8.4 since the packs voltage decreases as soon as you run it....

maybe you had problems because you gave it a constant 7.0???

I'm trying to ditch my BEC but I don't think it's worth risking the servo.
