Default Mamba Max Pro 1 Cell

Just looking at a new speedo for my crawler and i was looking at the Mamba Max Pro 1 Cell and was wondering if it would work with my Ballistic 18.5?

In other words im asking if Castle and Novak are buddies?

It'll work just fine As far as I know, every major brand of esc/motor is built to use the same standard sensor wires so you can use any esc with any motor.

Isn't the 1 cell for onroad racing?

Are you aware that it is specifically designed to be used with a 1 cell lipo battery? You're crawler would be really slow on 3.7 volts.

I believe the only difference is that there is no BEC in it. They were making them to use the voltage boosters or the little Lipo or Life receiver packs to power the receiver. If you want to use it in a crawler you NEED to use a bec. I know we tried one with a bec and it's didn't work.

Seems it does everything the reg. one does, just doesn't have a BEC or fan so it's smaller and lighter.

The only compatability issue's are with Novak Goat ESC's, everything else can mix and match. Stupid Novak makes you use thier crawler motors, nothing else will work. We run a 18.5 ballistic on 6s with a MMP in a LNC with no issue's.

Great to hear thanks guys

Im choosing the 1 cell because its smaller, lighter and doesnt have an internal BEC. so theres one less thing to deal with. the 1 cell will still run 1-6s lipo.

I run a MMP one cell edition in my shafty, they were created to compete in one cell class on road races. Theyvcan handle 1-6 cell lipos, they don't have an internal BEC, so you should and must use an external one. As far as being smaller and lighter, I would say its pretty large compared to most others especially something like an FXR. I chose the MMP one cell because I got it new in box on craigslist for $40, then I figured out what it was capable of. Most of its potential is unused, but the ability to run brushed/brushless/sensored/unsensored/6 cell is a nice feature. You never know when you might want to make a 24 volt 8000kv mini t.

Maybe 120, it's cool enough that I've never bothered to get my temp gun out to check it. Volt up, Gear down.

Crawlers need an external bec anyway regardless of esc and the lack of the fan make it way smaller and lighter than the other option of a regular pro. I think castle is loosing sales on these due to labeling. If you think about it its just as good for crawling as it is for onroad

Thats why i want the 1 cell, because it doesn't have an internal bec. Should I run a fan with it?

I need some help calibrating my MMP 1 cell with my DX3r...I see my 1cell does not have an on off switch. How do you calibrate without it? I see the switch mentioned in the .pdf instructions per castle.

Just plug the battery in while starting the calibration.
You eventually pic up the knack of plugging a battery in one handed.

If you cant do it one handed, just get a 2nd set of hands for 10sec.

mission accomplished...just wish castle would update their documentation to reflect this. I opened the MMP case an spent an hour or two trying to figure this out...one last question, I reattached the red lead on the receiver lead, is this correct? The wiring diagrams I saw had this removed.

Yes, there is no need to have any of the wires from the ESC plug pulled when running the MMP1C....even with an external BEC installed.
