Default Traxxas XL5 esc

Hey, I have the XL5 esc for my ax10, but I have been using nimh battery packs, but I wanted to get some A123 battery packs, but I want to know if the Xl5 can handle those?

Thanks..JB.

I ran 3s2p in my rustler.
It worked great! got a little warm on occasion, but it should do just fine in a crawler. Just be sure not to use more then 3s.
You also might want to run a BEC.

The A123 pack are 3.3 volts nominal per cell so you be ok with a 3 cell pack. Thats just 9.9 and the xl-5 is rated for 8cell nimh or 9.6 volts.

The A123 should make a nice battery pack for a xl-5.

Just make sure your charger will charge A123, not all of them will.
