Default Which end of a deans plug?

Can somebody tell me what the norm is for installing dean plugs to the battery and ESC? I'm not sure if the male end goes on the battery or the female goes on it. Thank you.

The deans plugs for battery tabs are not exposed so battery won't spark so that would be the female.

The esc plugs are male.

Put the female on the battery, the male can touch something in your box and short out. with the female it can't.

When you are soldering Deans plugs, always put a male and female together to keep from warping the plug.

makes sense with the female end on the battery, but there is no standard....if every body has the same end it makes it simple to borrow batteries from each other ........bob
