| Servo not serving?
Im running a hobico cs170 servo(1 1/2 yeras old) in my new xr10. It is wired with a CC BEC set at 6.0 volts and hooked to a Rhino 1050 3cell. In my ax10 it worked great but since i installed it in the Xr10 it seams alot weaker in sticky situations and runs hot to the touch after running a half a pack though it. Any clue on whats going on?

It sounds like you dont have it centered properly...which is why it is heating up more. Also, is there a big weight difference between the two trucks? |

I dare say it but your new XR10 probably resents having some old-ass hardware bolted to it's chassis. |

The XR-10 has a different steering knuckle with 8* of camber that might just need a bit more power.

Good points already provided. Did you check your EPA? (end point adjustment), you may be overdriving the servo against mechanical binding which creates heat. Did you change servo arms, it may be you are loading the servo up with longer arms or linkage than it saw before. Is the new rig heavier or wider/stickier tires which will also load it up causing heat. You may find that in it's new application, it is just a bit low on torque. Based on this... http://www.hobbico.com/radioaccys/hcam1000.html it appears to be OK ratings wise. Last edited by Charlie-III; 03-05-2011 at 08:13 AM. Reason: Added link to specs |

The XR's are known to be rough on steering. After a quick search I saw that a lot of guys are going to a single tie rod behind the axle rather than the stock setup and axial released a longer steering arm to give the servo a more leverage. Go to the XR10 section and search for "Steering" in a titles only advanced search...You can read all about it. I run the same servo you have in my berg and it does a good job. It will bind on you if you really get wedged in somewhere but other than that it should work fine if you get your linkage sorted out. |
