| Hitech HS-7954SH servo overheating problem???
I was Comping this weekend and my 7954 servo was heating up so much that you couldn't touch it. When it would heat up it would get stuck turning in one direction. I have the voltage up to 7.4. I'm not sure what the problem is. Should I turn the voltage back down? Should I tear the servo apart and grease it? Anyone with any insight?

What Rig is in it? Have you checked for binding in the steering? Take off the servo horn and move the steering linkage through its arc see if there is binding. Because to me it sounds like a bind it overworking the servo. |

I'm guessing XR10 with no steering upgrades or mods

Yes it's on an XR. The only steering mod was to the linkage behind the axle. I do have HR Chubs and knuckles on it.

if you go with VP knuckles a longer steering arm is included (I don't think it works with stock wheels however) i'd also consider lowering the voltage and see if heat is still an issue, if it is it may be something wrong with the servo internaly. (I use the same servo on both my rigs, one being an XR10 both at 6v no issues ever don't even get warm, my XR10 has the longer BWD arm, and a straight tierod) | |

a few people have made their own, got an old aluminum shock tower laying around? just an idea if you want to get it going quickly to test it out.
