Default using throttle trim to drag brake

Is it OK to set throttle trim to create drag brake on a non-drag brake esc?
I tested with the throttle trim toward reverse, causing a 'hum' when setting still, and it did drag brake coming down a hill.
I have a Duratrax Auto-Sport with reverse.

Not the best bet, but yes, it works. You may wear out your trim over time though.

Well I tried that too, but eventually it had a bad effect on run-time.
That will cause motor to draw power from battery all the time and it drains the battery alot faster.
I didn't like it.

It's usually a better result to get the trim to almost creep the truck forward. Sounds crazy but it's worked for my HPI speed controls.

Do you mean to say that a slight forward throttle trim simulates some drag brake at neutral throttle trigger?

$20 for an HPI gear reduction unit will give you your drag brake, and an obscene amount of torque.

Before there was drag brakes that's what we used to do, use the trim to put a little drag on it when needed.

I like top speed at about a brisk walking pace.
