Default Dual magnet motors vs. quad magnet motors?

What are the differences between dual and quad magnet motors? Does one work better for dual escape digging?

2 magnets.

Seriously, search through the "comm cuts and motor tweaks" thread, there is some good info in there...

here ya go straight from the source
4 magnet can=better low speed resolution, more overall power and RPM, little less drag brake. I torque remains about the same...

2 magnet= better drag brake, but not as good low speed resolution.....little less power and RPM.

Again, its not a huge difference on the power stuff. Many people notice the low speed feel and the drag brake feel differences.

I like 2 mag motors my self....4 mag seems to lack the drag brake I like for my driving style..but lots of guys love the 4 mag..
Seems to be all personal preference..

Thanks for the replies. I am about half way through the suggested tread. I currently have Team Brood 35t 4 magnet motors. I have noticed on digs the locked out motor will still slightly roll.

Edit: EddieO is right they are not five pole. Also I am running duel FXR's and a 4pk. I have talked to Harley and Randy Pike about this. They keep coming back to motor holding power.

Really? I run 4 mag Broods with Mamba Micro Pros and I can get them to lock up nicely.

Do you maintain the motors well?? Is your mesh fine?

They have been that way from new. Yes, I do believe in motor care. After reading the forum you suggested, I decided it was time to get a comm. lathe again. Man I forgot all the stuff that can be done to brushed motors.

Ah, you had me worried there you brain washed me into sending 5 segment arms....I just baked some up last night though

4 magnets will sometimes have that roll feel to them. I am not sure why some notice it more than others. Mine don't seem to do it. I would make sure you are keeping the brushes a solid length, as a shorter brush decreases spring tension, which can reduce holding power. You may try a stiffer spring. Depending what era motor you have, they are either trinity purples or sagami silvers. You can try a Trinity Silver or even a black to see if that helps your drag brake.

I will give the gear mesh a try. I will also be getting some springs.
