I use the right stick for steering, left for throttle.

Right stick left/right steers the front, up/down steers the rear.

Throttle mod guide:

Picked up and modded a DX6

JIA, how do you set up the programming for 4ws, digging, independent steering, etc...

There's no programming for 4ws.

For throttle you create a mix and mix the throttle and rudder channels @ 100%

I havent messed with my dx6 for a bit, but you could set up a mix on one switch. Mix off would be independent steering on the left and right sticks. Mix on would be all steering on whichever side you want.

Depending on how many mixes you have available there are all kinds of combos you could make, like a Side-sliding- digg setup. Mix front throttle mastered to rear throttle slaved at -%50. The same switch would also mix Front steer mastered to rear steer slaved at -+%100 (depending on servo setup). You steer right with some throttle and it would slide right over.

You can mix the throttle many different ways. I like JIA's method, where one corner biases power to the front and one corner biases it to the rear. I think he used a v-tail mixer for that. The spektrum has a v-tail mix already ready to go i believe.

The V-tail on plane radios is for the elevator and aileron channels. (like the VG6000...that's why I use a seperate V-tail mixer on the throttle/rudder channels)

On the DX6 I basically have a V-tail mix, but on the throttle and rudder channels.

Forward stick moves forward, rear moves the truck to the rear. Just turn on one ESC, program it, unplug it, then plug in and program the next ESC. When you've programmed them both, plug'm in, but only turn one of'm on. You only need to turn one ESC on for them to both function. I zip-tied the switch on one ESC so that it cannot be turned on.

My steering is on the right stick, seperate from throttle. This way steering inputs don't have an effect on throttle, which can be bad when in a precarious situtation.

Left/right on right stick steers front. Up/down on right stick steers the rear. I have the rear steer channel set so that up is right, down is left.

This gives me top right corner to move the entire truck to the right, bottom right for a tight right turn.

Top left is a tight left turn, bottom left will make the entire truck move left.

Sounds complicated, but becomes intuitive once you get used to it.

It's like flying a plane. If you just do it, you're fine. If you stop to think about what you're doing, you're gonna mess up.
