Default Goat 3s thermals with no load

I have a Goat 3s 21.5T in a LCC. When I give it full throttle it will bog down and shut off. The motor gets real hot and so does the battery. The ESC not so bad. Anyway this can happen in a matter of 10 seconds starting with a fresh pack and cold setup.

I thought it was some binding issue so I detached the driveshafts, and it still did it. I removed the tranny and then pulled the motor right out. It did it with no load.

What is wrong with my Blows-vak this is my first brushless setup.

I opened up the motor to have a peek and didnt see anything that looked toasty. No funky smells either.

I have shortend some of the wires to the cap and the motor to esc wires. I have a good solder station. Though Novak uses some terrible shit from factory.

I am waiting for Tekins new motors but I need something for now.

Should I just ditch the Novak stuff or could I try a different motor as it seems that is what gets hot.

I like castle stuff. thinking about a MMP 1 cell esc

I dunno what about a motor.

Does it drive right at low or part throttle?
Do the one touch and right profile?
BEC hooked up (stock or CC BEC)?
Sensor harness in good shape and plugged in all the way/correctly?

Check that stuff and see if it helps, the Goat has some programming quirks (like max drag overheating things sitting on flat ground) so make sure your on the worm profile. Provided thats right and the one touch was done right (do it again for good measure) the sensor harness is the most likely.

The Goat won't work as a crawler ESC with any motor other than a Novak "crawler" motor, so a switch to a Castle MMP one cell and CC BEC is a good choice. Then you can use any motor you want.

I had the same issure recently with a Novak 18.5 t. The problem was the motor for me. I bought a MMP and redline 21.5 and its waaaaayyyyyyy better than the goat 3s and motor combo
