Default Nomadio steering issues

This is an "I fixed it" thread, not a "whats wrong with it" thread, hopefully it'll help someone else.

I turn the radio and rig on today and my steering immediatly goes to the left. Turn the wheel to the right and it only moves a few degrees. Crap...I toasted a servo.

Tried a different servo, same problem. Crap, I fried a reciever.

Powered up my scaler (same radio, different reciever) and it did the same thing. Crap, I fried my radio. I could already feel large sums of money being drained from my wallet.

With nothing to lose I started tearing apart the radio. All wires intact, nothing burnt or out of place. I ohm out the steering pot and something doesn't seem right...ok, things are getting cheaper...pull the steering wheel and cover, then the circuit board underneath and all the buttons.

I find the shaft seems loose. Cool, just needs a new pot and all will be well. I dug in a little further...the nut that holds the pot in place is loose. Sweet! Tighten it up, do another ohm test, slap it together, fire it up, and it works!

Finally, for once in my life, I can claim it was the "loose nut behind the wheel" that caused the problem without sounding like a smartass.

Hopefully this will save someone some aggrivation and money when it happens to them.

Glad to hear it worked. Mine does something similar but locks to the right. I tried a different receiver and no problem, so I switched the throttle and steering ports and it works fine. I am stumped with it. Any suggestion.

Got an ohm meter? I'd check the pot and make sure you're getting an equal amount of swing in both directions.
