Default To many thoughts for a new guy

Ok me and 2 friends all have a Axial Honcho and we did all have Velineon VXL3S Brushless system.. Well my ESC went bad for some reason and it just heats up a ton fast, and every once in a while in mud/water we will loose reverse and will just come back whenever it feels like it.. What would cause that, the antenna being under water or what? All the electronics are waterproof and grease in joints and what not. So now back to my problem.. I need a waterproof ESC or would prefer one to get great wheel speed with no cogging. What a good all around ESC and can I mismatch the ESC with the Velineon Motor? Thanks..

I know that they call that a "waterproof" system, but it probably is not completely waterproof. In fact, under the description for that system on the Traxxas website it says the following:
"Water resistent case design uses rubber seals and o-rings to protect against damage caused by water and moisture."

Just mail it in to traxxas as there here in the Dallas area. They have a lifetime warranty on their electronics, the most they would charge you is 15 bucks to send you out a new one

The cogging is from the motor, switching ESC's wont solve that.

I actually plugged the motor into my friends ESC and it works fine so its the ESC.. I guess cogging wasnt the right word for that. Im sending it into Traxxas and getting another for $55.00.

But what would still cause it to loose Reverse for a little while?

Just FYI...you can find NEW VXL's on eBay for much less than $55 and you don't have to bother with sending your old one back.

Double check with traxxas, I've turned in defective electronics and it only should be $15 bucks to replace it, sending in the old one of course.
