Default Novak Mongoose 380 Pinion shaft Size??

Hey Guys just got a Novak Mongoose Crawler System in a CRAPPY TRADE..(See Feedback). The Pinion gear screw was stripped so I had to drill it out. Do these 380 brushless motors take a regular size pinion gear like on a 540 motor?? The only ones I have are the smaller dia. hole ones like what goes on the stock Losi Mini Crawler Motor. Any Help would be great before I run to the LHS.

They are a 1/8" shaft motor. However the MRC uses .5 mod pinions. Not 48 pitch, not metric 48 pitch (.6 mod). So you have to buy the pinion kits from Novak or some else that makes a .5 mod 1/8" shaft pinion. And I believe 14 tooth is the smallest that fits.

what are u looking for? did you get complete system? if so the pinion comes with the motor as novak recomends only a 14T (pretty sure) to be used with 18.5 mongoose setup.

The mongoose system (motor and esc) come with a 15 tooth pinion. The mongoose 380 cans are larger than a normal 270 (I think) size and that limits the pinion size because the motor will hit the transmission and you wont get good mesh. So 14t on a mongoose brushless is the smallest you can go. I have a brushed motor with a slightly smaller can and it can use a 12 tooth as a minimum. Stock losi pinion is 14 tooth and is made for a stock motor with the smaller shaft so it wont work with the mongoose.
