I know back before the brushless revolution you could find all sorts of motor lathes in all sorts of price ranges. I'm curious what is still out there. I would love to get a quality lathe because I know in the long run it will save me money. I never got one before because I didn't switch to electric until brushless motors started coming out (got the first Novak brushless motor/esc and still run it in one of my cars).

Having done some looking around I've found a few options. One is made by integy and the other two are from Hudy. I would like to get one that uses a 12v power supply since I have power supply that can run it. The only one I've found so far is the automatic one from Hudy which costs $400. The others run on 4.8v. I don't have any more nicd or Nihm packs to break down to 4.8v packs. I guess if I got the $400 one I could offer to cut other locals comms as well for a cheap price.

I use the Integy Xipp lathe that I got for a good price from Brood Racing. I too use a 12V power supply coupled with a Team Orion Motormaster. The motormaster is a nice tool that allows you to program whatever output voltage you want to control the speed of the lathe. I typically run mine at 3.5V. The Integy unit and Motormaster should be MUCH cheaper than $400... |

Look around for a used lathe, the Hudy is nice.
