| Fantom - Phantom motors...same as "Holmes handwound"??
OK, I need a pair of motors for my 2.2 Bully rig. I have a mix currently, started with a pair of 40T (?) Checkpoint motors. Had an issue with one and my son let me borrow a 35T. Obviously I have some issues with different wind counts even though I am running a Futaba 3PM-x & WannAmix. I can't quite get the gearing to match the difference in winds. A local club member has a pair of 35T Phantoms and states they are like a Holmes handwound but I can't find any info. What say you guys?? The price as offered looks OK, but I want to spend once, not twice. TIA for info. Last edited by Charlie-III; 03-22-2012 at 08:51 PM. Reason: Corrected vendor spelling to correct one....left original for others to possibly find. |

Not sure if they are the same as anyone elses motors, but I'm currently running Fantom 35's in my comp rig. No issues, and I'd buy them again. I ran several Fantom mods back in the day. Good stuff. |

Which one hh torquemasters or crawl masters??? CM's are a HH pattern wind i think so i doubt they are same as the phatoms. I'm unsure on TM's. But i had similar q's awhile back because holmes was out of stock and everyone i talked to said the phantoms aren't as good on the low end. |

The may use the same parts, cans and endbells, but it wouldnt mean they are the same. Arm styles and winding techniques can make motors very different between manufacturers. Fantom (Troy if hes still winding) makes some seriously good motors but I think hes more of a speed guy. JRH has been building crawler motors for some time now so he knows what they need. | Fantom. The one time I get on to people about spelling is because the name isn't spelled "right". http://www.fantomracing.com/ |

I will say he is NOT considered a n00b, but I won't give out his name either. Just a courtesy. | |
