I have an Axial Honcho with a Novak Rooster Crawler ESC and a 55 turn brushed motor right now I love the torque but hate that there is no speed. I'm using it as a trail truck and sometime play on the rocks, so I'm looking for a good 35 turn brushed motor for the truck, I may also switch to my Castle Creation Sidewinder ESC for the truck. What do you all recomend????

If its gonna be a while before you get a new motor/esc.I would suggest you put a taller pinion on the motor and maybe a smaller spur too. That will pep it up a bit.

HolmesHobbies has one of the best, if not the best, brushed ESCs in a combo with a 35T for $109. Hard to beat. And for $10 more he will waterproof it. The BEC is stronger than most, so you will potentially have stronger steering than with other ESCs. Really a no-brainer if you have the cash. Quote:

I have been thinking the same thing for the last year. I have the exact same combo you do and was wondering about a sidewinder with a 35t. Although I have been leaning towards the torquemaster because of the bec and the ability to run higher voltages. My recent thought was a 45t on 4s, good torque and wheel speed, although I'm not sure if the motor would last long on that voltage. I would love to hear more about this. | |
