I run a duratrax battery (4200) and a duratrax charger (not sure of the model number) and i have no complaints. My 4200 runs strong for a while too.

so this battery would plug right in to the honcho, no adapters needed?

Yup get that battery and charger and 8 AAs and youre good to go. I use Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries for alot of my electronics and they last a long time compared to other rechargeable batteries.

you could look into Lipo batts too (although I dunno if the RTR is set up to run them).

They are basically the same price, maybe 10-20 dollars more.

A big advantage is they have very consistent power output through their entire cycle. In otherwords they will be as powerfull near being empty as when they are fully charged. NIMH batteries lose a lot of power as they drain down. Not to say Lipos do not, but it is much less noticeable. They are also much lighter for the same capacity.

2s = 2 cell or 7.4v which is actually 8.4v @ full charge.

I have run even 3s LiPos on my stock Honcho AE-2 ESC (basically a sidewinder esc) with no issues but works PERFECT with 2s LiPos. I was getting like an hour or longer on a 2s 2000mah and dont even know how long of run time I get on my 4000mah 2s. Look into the LiPos and if you dont go LiPo right away at least get a charger that can charge them because without a doubt you will be using them eventually.

Good luck with the options out there. This would work great, I use this as well as a Hyperion Charger.

Can you get a 2s 7.4 5000mah lipo to work on stock honcho electronics? I found a few of them on ebay.

Should work fine...just find some with Tamiya connectors (what comes on the stock ESC), or get ready to solder on some other ends.

Any feedback on this? DuraTrax LiPo 2S 7.4V 5400mAh 20C Car Truck Hard Case?

What does the 20C part mean? Some batteries say 30C 25C etc.
