| 4 bank charger advice
I've added a few extra lipos to my comp and practice supply plus Im adding a scaler to the garage and I will be getting a couple lipos for it as well. I've seen the DC version of a 4 bank charger allowing you to charge multiple batteries at once but Im wanting an AC version. Is there one available from a good vendor that wont break my wallet? If not what power supply are most of you using for a charger like this?

I've been looking for a while, can't recall ever seeing an AC version, sorry. Supposedly those are limited to 50 watts each, roughly 200 watts for the unit as a whole. 200 watts divided out by the 12 volts input would be a little over 16 amps, might want to look for around a 25 amp unit, just so you can be sure you've got plenty enough. If I were going that route, I'd probably look for one of these. And keep in mind, at 50 watts each, if you're going to charge 3S (or more) batteries, the amount of amps you can charge at will likely go down as the voltage goes up. You start getting up over 4900 mAh in a 3S, and you're looking at going over an hour of charge time (assuming 12.6 volts to charge a 3S, and only 80% of capacity used). Not a problem if you can set the safety backup timer (Onyx 230,235), just don't know if that 4-banger you're looking at will let you set that, or if you're going to get batteries big enough to even warrant it. |

This what I use from http://www.valuehobby.com/ GT Power XDrive-6 4x60 Watt-6A 6S Balance Charger GT POWER 12V 20A Power Supply I also use a power cord off the back of the truck [Dodge] using a 7-pin plug with just the power and groung wires connected. Using about 4 feet of wires and butt connecters to plug the charger into. Last edited by cboggs; 09-04-2011 at 04:28 PM. |

This is what I use: I Charger 3010 EP Buddy ParaBoard Converted computer power supply, puts out 36A at 12V. With this setup I can balance charge 6 packs at a time, of course they all have to be the same to charge equally...I guess you could charge different capacity packs but I've yet to try that. |

That would fit my needs nicely. I guess I'll be waiting on these to be available to the public unless somebody knows how I can get one early. I'ld even offer to be a tester for them | |
