| motor whistles on full throttle.
I got a honcho and I replaced the motor and esc back to stock (27t, AE-2 esc). The motor makes a whistling sound on full throttle only.(sounds like a turbo..lol). Is this normal? If it's not, then I'll take out the motor and see what could be wrong. I just wanted to check here if anyone else had this problem. Thanks |

Check the mesh between the pinion and spur.

I know why it whistles.....it doesn't know the words..... On to better ideas.....did you lube the bushings/bearings for the armature? Is the pinion/spur mesh correct? Do either the pinion or spur gears have chipped/damaged teeth? Are you sure it's the motor, maybe the trans? |

I don't think any teeth is chipped, I just put in this motor last week and haven't really run it till today. I'll double check again. Thanks |

I would try lubing the armature shaft support, likely bearings.

These motors have an internal fan built onto the armature. My motor has the same whistle and has gone to he** and back already. See if the whistle is lessened when you cover the motor can vent holes with your fingers. Most likely it is this fan causing the whistle. Marcus |

Yup. Motor is still going as strong as it did the day I got the truck. Granted it has never seen over 2s, it's seen plenty of packs. Marcus |

My Axial 27T did the same thing in my Honcho too, had a slight whirring/whistling sound, never affected performance to my knowledge. Still works great!
