Default Crazy Balancing Problems

I use a Hyperion 0606i charger which requires you to balance/charge simulataneously. I have run into issues with 2 brand new 1000mah 4s Sky Lipos.

They charged the first time with no problems. After running both packs just once I have to go to "lipo balance" function to balance them all equal before they can charge.

I have LVC set at 3.4V per cell on my ESCs. There is no ballooning on the lipos nor any sign of wear.

Now I can't even do the "lipo balance" function to balance before charging. It will always be the first or second cells on the 4s packs that drop to as low as 2.3V so I have to charge for a few min in NiMH w/o the balance tap to try to get them somewhat equal to use the "lipo balance" function on the charger.

I'm assuming these packs are low quality? Do I need an external balancer for these two packs just to use them before charging again?

Alex,

I realize this won't help you much, but I also use that charger and have charged 5 1300/3s Sky LiPos multiple times with no issues. FWIW, I've also had success with this charger working with Rhino, Turnigy, and Gens Ace batteries (3s and 2s). Perhaps it has something to do with 4s?

its also possible you have 2 bad packs with bad cells in them ( the cells that the voltage goes real low on) sometimes happens with cheap packs.

Have you checked the cells voltage with a voltmeter. I would be surprised that two cells would go that low in normal use even with cheap packs.
