Default "CKRC Special" MG946R, 208oz Torque Metal Gear Servo

anybody have any experience with this servo? i have an HS-985mg in one rig and am wondering if it would be an upgrade or a downgrade to put this ckrc servo in my other rig.

normally i would just stick to what i know works (the hs985mg).. but this ckrc is only $20 bones! and appears to have higher power spec readings than the 985.

anybody have any advice?

thanks

Well for $20 id say give it a shot and if it fries your only out $20. All I know is I placed an order with ckrc and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Not very happy with that company but, that's just me.

you can get better servo's on hobbyking. (i'm not affiliated with hobbyking, just been very happy with the product for the money)

I have one of these in my scaler and I am very happy with it.

HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : HK15298B High Voltage Coreless Digital MG/BB Servo 66g / 20kg / 0.16s

for a few bucks more you can get one of these, I have one on the way to test out. (looks very promising, I have a friend who swears by blue bird servos)

HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : BMS-2514 Coreless Digital Alloy Gear Servo - 25.5kg / 0.14s / 7.4V (High Voltage)

dont forget to get a clamp on aluminum horn while you're at it.

HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : CNC Alloy Servo Arm Short (Futaba)

I figure if Fred000 suggests it then its worth 20 bucks 24 and some change to my door to be exact. Its a hong kong product of course there going to get some bad batches from time to time. Kind of like Sky lipos some hate them I love them. AND AT 277oz if it works I will be more than happy if its broke I got a winch

ya seriously. there store is my only LHS aroundwhere i live. when i go in there thier all a holes because i don't know everything about RC's and they make me look stupid everytime. when buy something there and it doesn't fit or doesn't work or something or i just flat out bought the wrong part. i'll try to return it and they'll come up with some BS story so i can't return it.
like a bought a charger and when i got home i realized it doesnt charge lipo
so i call them up and they said i couldn't return it because they wouldn't know if i broke it or ruined some how. and told me to sell it on craigslist then come back in and buy the right one.

I ordered 3 knowing full well that HK's site had no positive reviews for it, installed one in my scaler, and one in my 1/8 truggy and one was for a spare, neither has had any issues and now the 3rd lives in my 1/8 buggy, so far so good. for $20 it was worth a try.

Anyone try the EXI servos. Me and my friend have had great luck with them. Very good servos in my opinion. I have swapped all my servos to EXI but they need a lot of juice.

2-4 weeks, usualy around the 3 week mark for me (dont know if it'll be faster for americans), it seems that the lighter the box the faster it gets to you from there.

These servo's are crap. They were the rage a couple years ago when they came out and the older version of the same servo. There is a reason you don't see them a lot on here, they've been out for probably 5 years, so if they were awesome you'd see a lot of them around. They are EXTREMELY slow and compared to a Hitec (or another name brand servo) of the same oz-in rating they have way less power. I've probably gone through a dozen of the servo's at least a couple years ago and I just couldn't take it anymore. A Hitec 645mg is a much better servo, faster and feels about the same on power, for the price range. A Hitec 985mg is a heck of an upgrade from those servo's, that's what I originally upgraded to from the MG946R's. I was getting them for under $10 a piece back in the day and I still felt like it wasn't worth the money.

May give it a whirl.
