Default Servo mounting standard

All,

I've searched around here and the outside internet briefly. Are there standards defined for the mounting hole pattern for servos? It seems to me there are a few different sizes, but that most within a given size appear to have the same mounting pattern. Is this true? Or does it just LOOK like it? If they're standardized, can someone please give me the dimensions?

There are a few sizes used, micros, minis, standard, giant, etc.

If you look at ServoCity.com, look up a HiTec 7955 which is a "standard" sized servo. It will be the same for most of the servos we use (with the exception of the mini as a steering servo on a MRC 1.9). I believe ServoCity has all the dimensions listed, otherwise try the HiTec site.

I don't think there is an exact standard for servos in a given class. I have all different makes of "standard" servos and they all seem to have a very slightly different spacing in the mounts. A lot of the servo mounts are slotted to accommodate the variance in size.

I've noticed that. Standard mechanical design practice is for a mounting hole to be 1-1/2 - 2-1/2 diameters from the material edge. Most of the servos I have at home have the holes intersecting the edge. They appear much larger than they need to be. Do you guys put a collar around the screws you use to mount them or just crank them tight enough?

Thanks for the quick replies! I'm trying to make up a bracket to mount the steering servo to my front axle while I'm still at work. I forgot all the parts I need at home

I think, the so called "standard" are servos with 20mm wide..
