| Tekin Rebel 2 ~ Anyone else suffering??
Fried my second TR2 today. Absolutely no idea why it has done it this time. Truck is clod based running 55T lathes I believe the first time it was because I hooked it up to a 10 cell battery and it couldn't cope. This time I've only been using 8 cells. I have noticed some slight discolouration to the wiring that connects to the receiver. Anyone else having problems?? Looks like I'm on the hunt for a new esc possibly a Super Duty but it has 2A less BEC and I don't really want to have to run an RX pack |

Haven't had any problems with mine running two high torque servos though I'm only running 6 cells. My TR2 used to get very hot in stall situations but I put a CPU fan on it and it hardly ever even gets warm now. I do however think that Tekin over rates the R2's ability to handle cells from what I have heard.

I love my TR2, but I don't notice any MAJOR performance gains over my MOPED. Except for the BEC numbers?

hey wallaz if you have the instructions for the tr2, look up where it talks about receiver packs. if you run a high powered servo or more than 7 cells then you need to run a receiver pack. other wise you will fry the speed control. good thing is it should still work with a receiver pack. a friend of mine fried his and decided to check the instructions. those damn things do come in handy some times . although i lost mine i looked it up at www.teamtekin.com . look up the product manuel/specs page, then click on the rebel 2 and on the second page just below the pic of the battery is where it talks about it. hope that helps. There are no esc's brushed or brushless that have a usable BEC when running over 7 cells. Above 9 cells a switching regulator is the best bet to keep servo power, or tap 5 cells for the servos.

Just tried it on my first blown ESC and it still didn't work. Added a RX pack to my most recent fried ESC (without snipping any cables) and it came back to life. | |
