| esc for a servo winch.
I was wondering if anyone has tried using a small reversing esc to control a servo winch. I was thinking about it to reduce the creep I have with mine. Took me a few tries to get the esc to calibrate with the 3rd channel dial on my m11 but it did work. I just didn't actually gut the servo yet. It's a mamba 25 so I can adjust a few settings with it to make it work better. Just wondering if it is worth the trouble and hassles of a second esc.

Yes it's been done before (not by me). As to do it or not, how big is the ESC, what does it cost you & is it comparable to a unit like HeyOK sells?? |

I have never done it because it seemed like extra effort when a servo houses everything you need in a nice waterproof package. An on/off switch solves all my creep problems. It may be worth the trouble if it all works out for you. I really don't know though. |

A Mamba 25 would make a great ESC to control your servo winch, especially if you can run it from a linear channel. Then you would get variable speed with your winch. A Mamba 25 will also work fine with 3S lipo! Set it up for instant reverse and it will be a great machine. The only down sides I see with running that ESC is its co$t and size and that it isn't water proof (until you seal it up). If you have one kicking around, why not! Otherwise (you guessed it, here comes the sales pitch...) consider running one of my winch controllers! No drift, water proof, small and they're great! Check the link in my sig if you want to know more. Cheers, Al |
