| Good idea for waterproofing...
I was thinking about other ways to waterproof your electronics and rc boats popped into my mind. What if you took the chamber that holds all the electronics in an rc boat and put them in an rc car, it seems like a good idea and it would be way clean looking with almost no wires showing. What do ya think?

People have used water-tight TupperWare style boxes before.

What about the motor getting wet? Wouldn't that hurt it?

the motors sit inside the boats so they're not really exposed to much water

Motors can run underwater, no problem.

What about your axles? wont they fill up with water? that cant be good on the bearings. I guess you could drill a hole in the bottom of the cases to let the water drain.

Clean water is ok, its when you get in the grit it becomes a problem. Yes the cases to fill with water washing the grease away or adding grit. Thats just part of the game though. You gotta pay to play.

Keeping up on maintenance will increase the longevity of your RC. I wouldn't run in the mud or water, and then just let my truck sit afterwards. It would be a good idea to give it a good once over, and flush out any grit that got in the motor or axles, and re-lube everything.

I reat in a rc mag that its really good to run your motor in a glass of water to break it in. they said the minerals in the water wear the brushes in nicely |

Truely i would stay away from water and mud. I use to have a tlt that i run in everything, gumbo mud that was deeper then my tires, and water clossing-puddles-potholes-rivers-anything with water. of course its fun but cleaning sucks, i have spend close to 6 hours cleaning mud out of ever where on my car. after about 6-7 months of doing this my car just was braking to often and i was going thur esc and recievers like mad!!. my advise is have a spare set of ...swamp dawgs...mashers...or and paddle like tires glues on rims with no breathing holes drilled it can float a little bit. next get a water proof esc and recv.. so you dont have to worry. or if you cant get those items then use 2 or 3 ballons aorund its esc and rec the silicone glue each one closed. |

i weaas jus thinkin...make it run over water. i saw a vid of a savage that hat something like air or floatation foam in the tires. it was pretty cool watchin it just buzz over the water. its probaby pretty hard though to make it light enough to do that. but just a though.... |

that would be cool but its a totally different idea. This is like mudding and getting through it, if it floated, you could literally just put it in the pool and drive around. haha

I have stampede set up just for trail riding and mudding water proof esc ballons on reciever locked diff heck i just hose it off when i am done and pull the out drive bearings and let them soak for the week in some pb blaster I have been thinking of getting a cheap ultrasonic cleaner for jewlery. sealed endbell motors are the only way to go for this check out allelectronics.com for motors like 3.50 apeice. I love mud and used pedes are pretty cheap. and dont seem to mind the swamps. tamiya wild dagger or that twin motor thing probally would work good in the mud. just my two cents.
