Default Determining bad cells

I have a United Rc Sport 71 8.4v 1100mah 7 cell NiMH for my and it no longer is in working order. All the cells appear to be alright as well as all the solders, but I am sure there is just one bad one in there. How would I find out which one to pull?

fully charge it slowly, then let is sit for one day. Take a voltmeter to each cell. This requires taking apart the pack.

They should each be above 1.2 volts, probably around 1.3 or more. Any cell that is below 1.2 volts is bad.

Be very careful!! If you short a cell you can cause fire, smoke, and other dangerous conditions. If you dont know what you are doing then dont do it.

yeah I would say I don't really know what Im doing. I mean I don't have a voltmeter. But I can't even do that because when I plug the pack in to charge it makes a loooow pitch beeping noise.

Sounds like one or more of the cells is venting. Keep it plugged into the charger until it explodes, then you will know it's bad.

If you have clear shrink wrap over the pack look for any areas that appear to have moisture in the after charging. If it is not in shrink wrap charge it in an air tight bag. The charger will need to be outside the bag. Any sign of moisture will indicate venting.

thats some funny stuff

you should get a cheap meter, that is the easiest way to tell the conditions of your battery packs/cells
