their is a way, but after figuring it out and plenty of soldering i could not find a good place to mount the switch. So i just bought a TQ3 and mod that and have the mx-3 for my other rigs. The MX3 is a little different though. Instead of just 3 holes in the board their is 5. You will need to jump from the last and first whole to connect them and then you are left with 3 holes for wires. Solder new wires and a switch and you are done. I just couldnt find a switch and my solder iron sucked really bad so i just have 2 Channels now since i removed the switch but had nothing to replace it.

it doesnt work dont do it
I did the mod useind a proportional switch for rear steer form the steering radio, and it didnt even get half the throw that the switch did. and when 'Custom' said there are 5 things to sodder the outer 2 hold the stock switch on. If you like your 3rd ch then dont do it. I dont know if a 3 step switch would work but the variable one sire didnt
