Default Receiver pack?

I'm running a receiver pack but got a little confused after reading someones reply. I'm running 5 AA's for my receiver pack with two 190oz blue bird servos and a TR 2 speed control. I read that they cut the red wire on the speed control to allow for the receiver pack to be used. I never cut a wire on my speed control..... There is a little red wire that was cut from the factory.

Is he talking about the red wire that runs from the receiver to the speed control?

i just want to be sure the servos are getting the 6v from the pack and not 4.8 from the speed control.

a tr2 is a 6v 5a bec so even if it was pulling from the esc it would be 6v. but since you got a receiver hooked up it will pull the juice from the receiver pack.

From the Rebel 2 manual...

"Connect a separate battery pack to the receiver using the "B" or "BAT" socket on the receiver. A small switch should be used on the receiver pack to operate the radio. The receiver pack should have no more than 5 cells. For operation turn on transmitter and turn on receiver switch. Leave the speed control switch in the OFF position."

Basically if you accidently turn on the ESCs switch which activates it's BEC... you will over volt the BEC and have a toasted ESC.
Th way you can make sure the rebel's BEC circuit is not energized is to remove the red wire from the plug that goes into the receiver from the ESC.

mmk good then following the directions has helped

Makes me want to cut off the switch (leaving room to be put back together of course) to the esc so it can't accidentally fry.

I had it setup like unholy quoted (from reading hte manual) but then after hearing this guy talking about clipping a red wire it threw me for a loop. Heres a pic of how i had it. Large switch was for the receiver and then the small switch was for the esc which stayed turned off. Thanks for the clarification guys!

Removing the red wire keeps the BEC from getting energized even if the switch is turned on... If you are talking about a post in the MOPED thread... It was probably me that mentioned removing the red wire!

ahhh so are you speaking of the red wire that leads to the esc's on/off switch or the red wire that is grouped with the wires leading to the receiver?

I'm going to take the on/off switch out just to play it safe.

The red wire in the receiver harness coming from the ESC.

Once that is removed, the on/off switch basically does nothing and can even be bypassed by attaching the switches red and black wires together.

Oh... and i am never going to help you again unless you get rid of the worn out tired chuck norris crap!!!!
